According to the CDC, 45.1% of women in the United States have experienced some form of contact sexual violence during their lifetime.
That’s one reason I believe every woman should consider carrying something that can help her feel more prepared—whether that’s a personal alarm, whistle, flashlight, or another safety tool.
RAINN also recommends safety planning, knowing your surroundings, having an exit strategy, and having people you trust who can help if something doesn't feel right.
No safety product can guarantee that something bad won't happen. But being prepared can give you another option when you need one.
